Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI)
Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) is a unique outdoor science school, providing an exciting outdoor educational experience for our 7th grade students. Our program is offered on Catalina Island. During our three day program, students and teachers enjoy a variety of hands-on labs and field activities in Marine Science and Island Ecology. CIMI is a STEM based program.
Disneyland Physics Trip
In the spring, we offer a three day overnight trip for our 8th grade students that is exciting, educational, and affordable. The students participate in Disney’s Youth Education Series: "Properties of Motion: Physics Lab” and "Energy and Waves: Physics Lab 201”. Students examine and gain an understanding on how the energy of light and sound come together to create a unique experience and also discover electromagnetism by exploring some of Disneyland’s favorite rides. Students also identify and define potential energy, kinetic energy, speed, velocity and acceleration. The students also receive "park hoppers” so they can enjoy both Disneyland and California Adventure.
Winter Camp is a time for the middle school students and staff to go away on a retreat for three days. It is designed to deepen relationships, make memories, and grow spiritually. Each day is packed full of teaching, singing, playing, and hanging with friends. Each year we go to Pinecrest Christian Center located near Lake Arrowhead. The theme of our camp is "Taste and See”, taken from Psalm 34:8, and our speaker encourages the students to experience the goodness of God.
