Legacy Christian Academy Middle School

"Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the issues of life."-Proverbs 4:23

Overview

Legacy Christian Academy’s middle school offers a challenging yet nurturing academic environment that addresses the distinctive needs of early adolescents. Our program supplies support and guidance so that each student discovers new interests, develops intellectual integrity, grasps increasingly challenging academic concepts, builds healthy relationships, grows in confidence, and strengthens independent thinking skills.

The middle school provides traditionally-paced, college preparatory courses as well as accelerated math classes. The program emphasizes the concurrent development of work and study habits to ensure success in meeting the increasing demands of academic studies. Students leave the middle school prepared for a rigorous high school curriculum with solid cognitive reasoning, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Students experience their first opportunity to make choices in their schedules with the introduction of Exploratories (elective classes) in middle school. Numerous extra-curricular activities, athletic teams, and student organizations round out the middle school program. These extended opportunities provide yet another avenue for students to develop physical, personal, and social maturity.

21st Century Learning

The Legacy Middle School program maintains a foundational focus on core academic subjects. However, student success in the 21st century depends on more than basic reading, writing, math, and computing skills. To function well in the context of modern life, students must also develop critical interpersonal skills, independent and collaborative work habits, discernment about information and media, and a global perspective. Therefore, Legacy makes learning 21st century skills a key goal of its middle school program.

These 21st century skills can be categorized under four themes:

  • Global Awareness
  • Critical Thinking and Innovation
  • Information, Media, and Technology Literacy
  • Communication and Career Skills
